NOWA HUTA: A SPACE OF TRANSFORMATION

Duration: 1 hour
Free admission, subject to availability

Bartosz Szydlowski and Małgorzata Szydlowska present their work in Nowa Huta, an iconic district of Kraków. Bartosz Szydlowski, theatre director and head of the Łaźnia Nowa Theatre, reflects on the history, urban and political dimensions of this institution situated at the heart of the district. Małgorzata Szydlowska, set designer and director of Dom Utopii – International Centre for Empathy, explores the creative potential of spaces originally designed without any artistic purpose. Their approach demonstrates how these cultural venues transform a neighbourhood, treating memory not as a static legacy but as a living resource for imagining the future.

Moderator: Maciej Fiszer, set designer and museum curator.
