Ștefan Bâlici is the President of the Order of Architects of Romania. He is a senior lecturer in the Department of History of Architecture and Cultural Heritage Conservation at the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest (since 2000), where he teaches architectural conservation with a particular focus on archaeological heritage. He is active in several professional and civil society organizations, including Europa Nostra and ICOMOS. He is a founding member and project coordinator (2006–2016) of the ARA Association (Architecture. Restoration. Archaeology), as well as an associate and conservation planner at OPUS Architecture Studio in Bucharest (2001–2016). From 2016 to 2022, he directed the National Heritage Institute, where he was responsible for implementing public policies and programs for the conservation of cultural heritage in Romania.
