Laure Hinckel is a photographer and translator. She graduated from Inalco (Langues’O) in Romanian language and history, as well as from a journalism school. She published her first photography book in October 2024: Bucarest – Trente ans après [Bucharest – Thirty Years Later]. The book received the Antoaneta Ralian Prize at the Bucharest Book Fair in December of the same year. Nine of her diptychs from the book were exhibited at the Macadam Gallery of the Romanian Cultural Institute in spring 2025. Preferring emotion and the graphic qualities of black and white over color, Hinckel creates spontaneous images, aiming to offer a vision that is both realistic and imbued with empathy and poetry. Her favorite subjects are urban spaces, both ordinary and everyday, as well as marginal, unusual, and unexpected places. Above all, she is a photographer of the in-between.
