Nora Martirosyan

Born in 1973 in Yerevan, Nora Martirosyan is an artist and filmmaker. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Armenia, she traveled across Europe and graduated from the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam and Fresnoy, National Studio of Contemporary Arts. She divides her time between teaching and filmmaking. As a teacher at
art schools, she was awarded the Villa Medicis residency for the 2013-2014 session.
Her first feature film, Should the wind drop, emerged after a long period of development, notably supported by the Cinefondation workshop at the Cannes Film Festival and the Villa Medicis. Selected and awarded at numerous festivals, Should the wind drop is the first Armenian film to be in the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival since 1965 and represents Armenia for the 2021 Oscars.
