Julien Libeer
Pianist Julien Libeer is acclaimed for the clarity of his playing, the sensitivity of his interpretation, and his musical intelligence. A free thinker and socially engaged artist, he explores the works of Bach, Mozart, and Ravel with rare depth. Trained by Jean Fassina, Maria João Pires, Daniel Blumenthal, and the Artemis Quartet, he has also received guidance from Alfred Brendel and Dmitri Bashkirov. Artist in residence at Flagey, he performs at venues such as the Concertgebouw, the Barbican, Wigmore Hall, the Elbphilharmonie, and the Palais des Beaux-Arts, and at festivals including the Enescu Festival. His tours have taken him to Japan, Lebanon, Hong Kong, and the United States. A sought-after soloist, he has performed with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Sinfonia Varsovia, and the Brussels Philharmonic, under the baton of conductors such as Trevor Pinnock, Augustin Dumay, and Markus Stenz. As an accomplished chamber musician, he collaborates with partners including Dumay, Camille Philippe, Maria João Pires, and Salvatore Accardo Gatto. His recordings — featuring works by Beethoven, Bach-Bartók, Bach, Mozart, Ravel, and others — have received numerous awards and distinctions. Offstage, he promotes music through educational and community projects such as Salon Libeer [Salon Libeer], Dead or Alive [Dead or Alive] (UCLouvain), and the choir Singing Molenbeek [Singing Molenbeek], for which he serves as artistic director.
