MIRCEA CĂRTĂRESCU PRESENTS HIS LITERARY CONSTELLATION OF BUCHAREST

Alongside Romanian writer Mircea Cărtărescu, two major voices of the contemporary literary scene join the stage. Ioana Pârvulescu, novelist and professor in Bucharest, invites the audience on a journey through the Bucharest of 1897 with La vie commence vendredi [Life Begins on Friday] (trans. Marily Le Nir, Seuil), where investigation, the fantastic, and History intertwine with playful ingenuity. Matéi Visniec, playwright and novelist exiled in France, whose works resonate on stages across Europe, publishes this year Là où naissent les frontières et les châteaux de sable [Where Borders and Sandcastles Are Born] (L’Œil du prince), a theatrical collection inspired by questions of borders, blending the tragic, the comic, and the absurd. A three-voice constellation, weaving memory, imagination, and resistance, celebrating the vitality of Romanian literature.
