Bogdan Mureşanu
Born in 1974, Bogdan Mureșanu is a screenwriter, director, and producer. He began his career in literature and advertising before turning to cinema. In 2008, he wrote the screenplay for The Human Torch, which won an award at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and embarked on a body of work that spans documentary, fiction, animation, and television series. He stepped behind the camera with his first short documentary, Negruzzi 14, screened in 2016 at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest. In 2018, he directed The Christmas Gift, which won several awards, including the Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand the following year, the Best European Short Film at the Alcine European Film Festival, and three additional awards at the Tampere Film Festival. This New Year That Never Came [Ce nouvel an qui n’est jamais arrivé] is his first feature film. Released in theaters in April 2025, it received widespread critical and public acclaim.
