Trained in classical ballet, Romanian dancer Judith State is the recipient of an ISVP scholarship from the Broadway Dance Center in New York and a WEBdance scholarship from ImPulsTanz in Vienna. She develops a multidisciplinary artistic practice combining movement, voice, and music. In 2018, she created Emlék – remembering [Emlék – remembering], a modular autobiographical project composed of a stage performance, a concert blending electronic music and Hungarian songs, a workshop for dancers and actors, and a short film inspired by R.M. Rilke. She furthered this research in 2022 with Ember, in collaboration with musician Radu Dumitriu. In 2020, she took part in MONUMENT 0.8: Manifestations by Eszter Salamon, presented at Kaai Theatre in Brussels. In cinema, she appeared in Sieranevada (Cristi Puiu, 2016), selected for the Cannes Film Festival, earning a nomination at the Gopo Awards. She went on to star in Malmkrog (Puiu), Monsters. (Marius Olteanu, Gopo Award for Best Actress), The Father Who Moves Mountains (Daniel Sandu), Refuge (Liviu Marghidan), Zenith (Gyuri Kristoff), and RMN (Cristian Mungiu), officially selected at Cannes in 2022. Today, Judith State continues her career between dance, choreography, cinema, and music.
