Amphitrio is a contemporary jazz project launched in 2020, bringing together pianist Andrei Petrache, bassist Mike Alex, and percussionist Philip Goron. All three come from classical and alternative backgrounds, sharing a strong musical connection fueled by friendship, the joy of playing together, and improvisation. Their repertoire, composed of original pieces by Petrache, is rooted in modern jazz with Nordic influences, tinged with Balkan and Oriental sounds, and featuring elements of rock and electronic music. After the albums Points and Seasons (2023), their musical universe expanded with Timelines (2024), exploring new electro-groove subgenres. Awarded the prize for Best Composition at Jazz in the Park (2023), Amphitrio has performed at numerous festivals in Romania. Their international tour What Freedom Sounds Like (2024), co-funded by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund, takes them to jazz stages across Europe and Asia — Berlin, Vienna, Belgrade, Baku, Sofia, Krakow, Cologne…
