Born in Romania, Théodore Paraskivesco graduated from the Ciprian Porumbescu National Conservatory of Music in Bucharest with five first prizes. Thanks to a scholarship from the French Government, he continued his studies in Paris under Nadia Boulanger and Yvonne Lefébure. In 1961, he won the Georges Enesco International Competition. In 1970, he was awarded the Claude Debussy Prize. Four years later, in 1974, he received the Grand Prix of the French Record Academy for a recording dedicated to Ravel. In 1978, he was honored with a Diapason d’Or [Golden Tuning Fork] for his recording of Claude Debussy’s piano works. Finally, in 1981, he received the Diamant d’Harmonie [Harmony Diamond] for his interpretation of Debussy’s Études. He has given numerous concerts and recitals in Paris and throughout France, and has toured internationally in Europe, Africa, South America, Japan, and China. Having acquired French nationality, he quickly established himself as one of the most remarkable pianists of his generation. In addition, he is a professor of piano and chamber music at the CNSM in Paris.
