ÉCRIRE LA FAMILLE ROUMAINE EN FRANÇAIS

Two distinctive voices will explore memory, identity, and heritage. Laura Nicolae, winner of the 2024 Prix Robert-Cliché for her debut novel Rue Escalei, brings to life a Bucharest community during the communist era, where dramas and solidarities reveal the resilience of a marginalized world. Marie Khazrai, actress, director, and writer, delves into a lineage of women in a Romanian village haunted by tales, violence, and collective memory in her novel Poupées Roumaines [Romanian Dolls] (Les Avrils). In dialogue, the two authors weave intimate narratives and historical frescoes, illuminating both the real and imagined Romania, and how its echoes resonate far beyond its borders.

Hosted by Léonard Desbrières, literary journalist, Le Parisien, Lire Magazine.
