BUCHAREST/PALIMPSEST: CONVERSATION WITH MIHAI ȘOVĂIALĂ

As part of PhotoSaintGermain, delpire & co presents BUCHAREST/PALIMPSEST, the first solo exhibition in France by Romanian artist Mihai Șovăială. His works explore the urban layers of Bucharest—a city shaped by Ceaușescu’s demolitions, socialist architecture, and today’s improvised façades—revealing an unfinished landscape that mirrors a state of political uncertainty. Now based in Zurich, Mihai Șovăială continues to investigate processes of overlay and erasure, experimenting with printed materials, hanging systems, and self-publishing. The exhibition also highlights the work of Anton Roland Laub, whose trilogy Mobile Churches, Last Christmas (of Ceaușescu), and Mineriada analyzes with irony and precision three key episodes in recent Romanian history.

Moderated by Sonia Voss, author and independent curator.
Exhibition runs until January 10, 2026. www.delpireandco.com
