Khachatur Martirosyan is recognized as a master of Armenian non-figuration, which he established against the current of his time. Focusing on black and white, he perceives in the canvases—new, textured, or worn, stitched with the help of his wife—a spiritual space that allows him to draw light. The small black sculptures complement the paintings, creating a multifaceted artistic expression. They seek to transform the canvases into three-dimensional forms.
