Edik Boghosian

Edik Boghosian, an artist based in Armenia since 2007, was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1972. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Faculty of Art at Azad University in Tehran, where he graduated in 1995. An award-winning artist, he works as a multidisciplinary visual artist and graphic designer, focusing primarily on contemporary art, graphic design, and visual poetry. Initially trained in painting, he began to move away from traditional methods involving paint and brush in 2014. His creative process is based on the concept of planned chance. He creates abstract assemblages, reliefs, and objects using rusted metals and found items from everyday life. Additionally, he constructs visual poetry by discovering and arranging words and phrases from graffiti, street advertisements, and writings on the city’s walls in video form. His unique approach transforms accidental finds into captivating artistic expressions.

He is a co-founder of the first international theater poster festival in Armenia. As part of his artistic project "In Quest of the Absent”, dedicated to the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh, the artist uses found and damaged metal objects from Stepanakert and other cities in Nagorno-Karabakh. These traces, never complete, suggest more than they reveal. This series raises questions about sensitivity to the tragic reality of the post-war situation, which persists and perpetually haunts the present.
