Karén Khachaturov

Colors, locations, situations, bodies, everything is improbable in the photographic spaces of Karén Khachaturov. For the Armenian artist, born in 1992 and living and working in Yerevan, the images are infused with pastel colors in the most cherished shades: lavender, peach, mint green, mauve, turquoise, and yellow. These hues cover spaces that, through the magic of color, appear imaginary. As for the characters, they are often faceless. Half-object, half-human, they form elements of a meticulously crafted scene, with the artist acting as the demiurge. Each image is the result of extensive preparation, and nothing comes from the graphic palette of any software. The entire composition, both playful and unusual yet also unsettling, creates a world uniquely his own.
Karén Khachaturov’s art has been exhibited in numerous galleries around the world, and his photographs have appeared in a wide range of newspapers, magazines, and books.
