« VILLAGE OF WOMEN » BY TAMARA STEPANYAN (2019)

In Armenia, there is a village where only women, children, and the elderly live. The men leave for nine months each year to work in Russia. How do these women endure the waiting, the solitude, and the absence of their husbands? Tamara Stepanyan has directed two documentary feature films, Braises and Ceux du rivage before Village de femmes in 2019. She is currently in post-production on her first fiction feature film, Sauver les morts, shot in Armenia in the summer of 2024, starring Camille Cottin and Zar Amir Ebrahimi. Her new documentary, Mes fantômes arméniens, is set to be released in 2025.
In the presence of the filmmaker, the screening will be followed by a discussion moderated by Clément Colliaux from Libération.
