Hasmik Manouchian

Hasmik Manouchian is the great-niece of Missak Manouchian, an iconic figure of the resistance in France. Her family history is deeply connected to the Armenian diaspora and the legacy left by Missak and his brother Garabet. Hasmik is descended from their older brother, Haïk Manouchian, who moved to France in 1925 and returned to Armenia in 1936 with his family on the first boat going back to Armenian soil. Hasmik’s grandfather, Karpis, was the son of Haïk.
Born in Armenia, Hasmik grew up immersed in this culture. At the age of 15, she moved to France with her family. Armenian culture serves as her foundation, while French culture has complemented and shaped the adult she has become.
