Hovik Afyan

Hovik Afyan was born in 1983 in the city of Abovyan. His novel Red (Rouge, translated into French from Armenian by Anahit Avetissian) was published in France in October 2024 by La Peuplade. It has been shortlisted for the European Union Literature Prize. He is also the author of short stories collections (Meat Eaters and Non Bible) and novels not yet translated into French: Sweet Life, Fathers of the People and From Sea to Sea. In 2021, Hovik Afyan won first prize at the 4th Yerevan Book Festival. He was awarded the commemorative medal Yeghishe Charents. In 2022, he received the Stepan Alajajian Prize for the novel Sweet Life.
