Serge Avédikian
Serge Avédikian is a French actor and director of Armenian origins. He was born in Soviet Armenia by accident. Indeed, his parents were born in France, as his grandparents, who were born in Anatolia, had moved there after the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire. In 1947, they went to live in Soviet Armenia, like many patriots, believing they could help rebuild the country. The family returned to France in 1970.
Serge initially attended the Meudon Conservatory of Dramatic Art to become a theater actor, and he later formed a theater company and directed productions. Starting in 1978, he began acting in movies while continuing his work in theater. In 1982, he started making documentary films, and from 1990 onwards, he created more personal short and medium-length fiction films, all the while performing in theater, film, and television. He created a production company and produced most of his films until 2000. Today, he directs animated films, documentaries, and fiction produced by other producers, while continuing to work regularly as an actor.
