Ruben Arevshatyan

Ruben Arevshatyan is an artist and exhibition curator. He is the president of AICA-Armenia and directs the studio of research-based artistic practices at the Contemporary Art Institute of Yerevan. He has published numerous articles on contemporary art, architecture, and theory, primarily focusing on topics and issues related to urban and cultural transformation, particularly in post-socialist contexts. He is a member of the editorial board of the electronic journal www.red-thread.org. In 2011, he was the curator of the exhibition “Manuals: Subjects of New Universality” – the Armenian national pavilion at the 54th Venice Art Biennale, and in 2014, he curated the exhibition “The Capital of Desires” – the Armenian national pavilion at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennial. As the author and curator of the international research project “Sweet Sixties” he led the scientific restoration project of the Sevan Writers’ Residence as part of the Keeping it Modern program by the Getty Foundation. He lives and works in Yerevan.
