Hover State Chamber Choir

The Hover State Chamber Choir, which is part of the Armenian National Centre of Chamber Music, was founded in 1992 in Yerevan, Armenia. It is a creative entity that offers musical innovations at each stage of its activity, presenting itself in both academic and innovative styles, ranging from pure a cappella to syncretic genres in collaboration with other art forms.
The choir has performed internationally in prestigious concert halls: Teatro Dal Verme (Italy), Théâtre de Nanterre-Amandiers, Cité de la Musique, Le Quartz (France), Strathmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center (United States), National Theater of Taipei (Taiwan), Hermitage Museum (Russia), and more.
Hover has initiated various choral-theatrical performances, large-scale vocal-symphonic, operatic, and chamber projects, as well as experimental initiatives, and has collaborated with numerous renowned musicians and composers, including G. Kremer, A. Mustonen, R. Shervenikas, D. Geringas, J. Nelson, M. Klauza, B. Kutavičius, L. Shambadal, F. Helgath, A. Bocelli, and T. Gurtu.
The choir regularly collaborates with the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra (ANPO), the Armenian National Chamber Orchestra (NCOA), and the "Yerevan Perspectives," "Golden Apricot," and "Komitas" festivals, as well as with a number of other orchestras, choirs, and festivals in Armenia.
Having participated in the recording of the soundtracks for several films, including Ararat (A. Egoyan), La Masseria delle Allodole (The Farm of the Larks, by the Taviani Brothers), Namus (restored version from Studio Arte), and The Promise (Terry George), Hover has recorded 7 CDs.
The founder and artistic director and choirmaster of the choir is Sona Hovhannisyan, an Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia, a recipient of the Order of Saint Mesrop Mashtots, and a Professor who has served as the Rector of the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan since 2018.
