Jean-Chat Tekgyozyan
Jean-Chat (Hovhannes) Tekgyozyan is a writer and playwright. He became well known for his first novel, La Ville en fuite, a novel about a reckless youth in Yerevan, translated from Armenian by Mariam Khatlamajyan (Belleville, 2018). Prior to this, he had published two collections of short stories, Wooden Shirt and Glass Sun, as well as essays on theater and cinema in the collection The Doublesex Theater. His plays Metastasis and Non-People have been staged by independent theaters in Armenia. In 2012, Metastasis was also presented at the Forum of the Chekhov International Theater Festival. His second novel, Skin Pain, won the Orange Book Prize in 2012. More recently, he published Troisième sexe in France (Belleville, 2021), translated from Armenian by Anahit Avetissian. Currently, Tekgyozyan lives in Strasbourg, France. His latest novel, Shelter, was published in Armenia in 2024.
